                        <div class=

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) is an undergraduate course in medicine and surgery. It is a five-and-a-half year (4.5 years of academic education + 1 year of mandatory internship) UG degree course leading to the two degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. The MBBS is one of the most desired courses after 12th grade in the medical field. It is a professional program for which the students are conferred with degrees in medicine and surgery upon successful completion of the course.

The course aims at imparting quality education and training to students to help contribute to the growing health sector and medicine. The MBBS course is controlled by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is spanned for four and a half years, divided into semesters, followed by a compulsory internship for a year.

The minimum eligibility for the MBBS course is 10+2 in the subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology. Different medical colleges have different cut-off marks; however, the selection is made on the basis of the entrance exams held either at the national level or by individual institutes.

Medical school graduates are only entitled to use the courtesy title "Doctor" upon registration as a medical practitioner with the relevant regulatory body in their respective country. Medical graduates are eligible to sit postgraduate examinations, including examinations for membership and fellowship in professional institutions. Among the latter are membership in the Royal College of Surgeons, postgraduate master's degrees (such as a Master of Surgery or Master of Medicine), a postgraduate doctorate in medicine (such as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Science, if earned in Ireland, the UK, or Commonwealth nations), and board certification examinations.
